The most successful treatment for sleep apnoea is CPAP therapy.

CPAP is short for ‘Continuous Positive Airway Pressure’. An air pressure pump is used to generate a carefully controlled air pressure which the person breathes.

The pressurised air opens up the person’s airway and prevents it from collapsing during sleep, thus preventing sleep apnoea.

A face mask is used to deliver the pressurised air to the nose and/or mouth. There are many different designs of face mask, and choosing a suitable mask for a particular person is very important. The mask must seal well against the face to ensure no air leaks. Air leaks can be noisy and can disturb sleep.

Although there are also surgical options for treating sleep apnoea, most doctors now recommend CPAP treatment because it is highly effective, and does not carry the same risks as surgery in the mouth and throat.

Starting CPAP treatment

Most people new to CPAP will rent a mask and CPAP machine for a few weeks before deciding to buy their own equipment.

At Deeper Sleep we spend plenty of time with you in the first appointment, explaining everything you need to know about sleep apnoea and how the CPAP treatment works. In this appointment we will fit a mask for you and give you hands-on practice in operating the CPAP machine and humidifier.

We understand how critical it is for you to find a mask that fits well, so with Deeper Sleep you are able to rent a mask for a week or two before buying it, to make sure you are happy with the design. If not, return it and try a different design!

Low cost trial process

We charge by the week for the equipment rental, so you are not forced to pay for whole months at a time. Assuming you find CPAP therapy helpful, you will have a choice of the best and most popular CPAP machines and masks.

Please contact us for an appointment to start your CPAP treatment. You will need a CPAP script from your doctor for this.
